Each of us, through our Baptism, is called to proclaim the Word. Some people are called forward, by the parish community, for the ministry of Catechisis. These people, known as Catechists, are dedicated volunteers from many and varied walks of life who graciously donate their time and talent to share their faith with the children and youth of our parish. They help prepare a new generation of leaders for our church and society.
The primary role of a catechist is to model God’s love to others. As a result the primary requisite of a catechist is a love for God and a love of people.
Catechists may also work with the adults who come to learn more about the Catholic faith through the RCIA process. Many catechists say that through sharing their faith with others increases their own faith and deepens their relationship with God.
Baptismal Preparation provides parents and God-parents the opportunity to explore the meaning of baptism and to reflect on their own faith lives through instruction and sharing with other parents. This process enables them to more fully share their faith with their child. Here at St. Margaret's Baptismal Preparation is facilitated by trained couples, who have children of their own. Training will be provided.
